British artist Bortusk Leer has moved almost 3 years ago in Amsterdam, NL and loves this city’s art de vivre.
You may think that a studio located in a garage, in the middle of cars and tires, would be a bit depressing. But we are talking about Bortusk Leer here, the artist known for his joyful Happy Monsters and his « Smile » motto. An artist easy-going, funny, cheerful, buzzing with ideas, and drawing constantly. He has managed to get his studio resemble him. It is filled with colours, with little figurines everywhere, made by him or brought back from his wanderings. Some parts of the ceiling are broken? Bortusk hangs a Kermit frog or a mobile Monster to make us look at the holes. Quite a Pythonesque vibe here.
He is a versatile multitasker: while painting his monsters, he prepares his new website, saws wood and builds shelves in an instant. And Jessica, a delightful Amsterdammer who works with him, tries to channel his bursting thoughts.
